Pastor's Blog

May 22 Mandatory Meeting for ChampKids, Merge & Lifeline Teachers, Workers, & Volunteers

w_hutchins_sm.jpgOn May 22nd, I will be hosting a meeting with all the Teachers, Workers, and Volunteers of ChampKids Sunday School immediately following the 10:30AM worship service.  This meeting will also include Merge and Lifeline Student Teachers and Leaders.  This is a mandatory meeting and your presence is necessary. This meeting will last no more than 20 minutes.

At this meeting, I will be discussing:

1). the future of our Sunday School learning experiences and the discipleship course we will be taking for the summer of 2011,

2). the staffing changes and rotations that have been made to nullify loss of classes, and

3). the policy and procedural changes that have been made to ensure that all of our children and teachers are able to attend classes as well as worship services.

I want to say a big "Thank You" in advance for your continued support and hard work in this vitally important ministry!  Our efforts to train and disciple the children of our community is an eternal enterprise whose rewards will outlast the sun.  We look forward to ChampKids becoming the best and reaching kids for Christ!

Blessings,

Pastor Hutchins

2011 Consecration - Prayer & Fasting

Join us beginning January 9th, for 21 days of consecration.  The Church of Champions will be in a season of consecration and preparation for 2011.  To celebrate all that God has for us in this new decade, we will be giving Him the first month as a consecration of prayer and fasting.  Corporate prayer and fasting is an essential part of our discipleship and growth in Christ. To help you, we've created a guide to facilitate your focused prayer during this season of consecration.  Click on the link below to download the Church of Champions 21 Day Prayer & Fasting Guide.

Anatomy 101

Have you ever held a newborn baby boy? That baby is a bundle of joy for its parents, but in reality he isa101_modified.jpg also a bundle of something else. He is a bundle of perfectly formed, highly intricate systems that are already at work keeping him alive. Thanks to the systems God created him with such as the circulatory system, digestive system, respiratory system, nervous system, skeletal system, muscular system, integumentary system, Endocrine system and the Excretory system; this child is fully functioning and ready to grow as he starts his journey into life.

God is into systems. He organized the universe with systems. He created our bodies with systems. The Apostle Paul acknowledged this as a parallel to the Church in 1 Corinthians 12:25 when he said, “The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church.”  The Apostle Paul was helping us wrap our minds around the “how” of Church life and its function in our daily lives.  Not only must the Church be real and relevant, it must also be the body of Jesus Christ, its Head!  The Church must function just as our own human body functions.

Join us Nov. 7th for the kickoff of our newest message series Anatomy 101 and discover how the health of our “systems” reflect the “health” of our Body, the Church!

Babel & the Folly of Self-Driven Spiritual Growth

Now the whole world had one language… Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a markjohnston.jpgtower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth…”The LORD said… Come, let us go down and confuse their language...” So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building… (Genesis 11:1-8 – NIV).

I’ve been frustrated lately over an inconsistency in a spiritual discipline in my life.  For months, I’d been regularly engaging a sacred habit that was helping me grow; then I fell off the wagon.

A pattern soon developed: I’d intend to do the discipline; fail to do it; and then feel guilty about not doing it.  Intend; fail; feel guilty…  Intend; fail; feel guilty…

Ever experienced that?

Excited About BIG Sunday

 simple_sunday_small.jpg

It's a September to Remember!  We've got BIG Sunday, September 26, 2010 @ 10AM.

Throughout Scripture God has used BIG days to make monumental shifts in the history of creation. Throughout time God has used BIG moments to shift the history of mankind.  From one day in creation, when light was divided from darkness, to one day in Bethlehem where the Son of God was born in a manger, to one day (Feast Day called Pentecost) in the Book of Acts where the Holy Spirit was poured out upon thousands... God delights in using BIG days!

Sunday, September 26th we are praying for God to do some BIG things at the Church of Champions! We want to, in one day, break all of our attendance records, our baptismal records, and Sunday School records by having the greatest number of salvations in one day at the Church of Champions that we've ever had!

We're asking every person to participate by bringing your friends, your co-workers, your neighbors, yourd_grigsby.jpg family, whomever it may be, to experience a day totally focused on the salvation of lives through the simplicity of the Gospel message!

ChampKids will be hosting a Super-Sundae Ice Cream Fest and giving away prizes for the kids that bring the most friends.

Every Champion Life Group will be having a contest to see who can bring the most guests and we will be giving away gifts and prizes to those guests who come from our Life Groups.

We invite you to pray over names carefully, make intentional plans to invite them to experience what God is doing at the Church of Champions on Sunday, September 26th!

For souls to be saved: they must be brought; they must be taught; they must be sought!
