The Bible Memorization Challenge program is designed to assist parents in fulfilling their divine responsibility and privilege to instill God’s truths in the hearts and lives of their children.

6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (Deut. 6:6-9 NLT)

The program plan is simple and follows the prescription from Deuteronomy 6:6-9. Program workers provide study guides to the children containing the Scripture passages they are to memorize during the program period. Parents work with their children throughout the week to learn and memorize the passages, and in so doing they themselves begin to commit more Scripture to memory. During Sunday School, program workers then compliment the work done by the parents by re-enforcing the Scripture their children have learned.

This re-enforcing is performed by employing a variety of activities that are designed to test the children’s mastery of the Scripture memorization and to more deeply instill the Word into their minds, while at the same time teaching them how to apply the Truths they learn. These activities include: Sword Drills, Bible Bowl, Spelling Bee, opportunities to practice and quote memorized passages, learning Scripture-based songs, and other Bible quizzes and competitions.

By obeying God’s command to instill His Word into the lives and futures of our children, we help to ensure, as God promised Joshua after the death of his mentor Moses, that they will partake of true success:

7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. 8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. 9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Josh. 1:7-9 NLT)
