Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced yesterday (Friday) that Israel and the Palestinians will begin
direct peace talks. An invitation was extended to both parties for a summit in Washington on Sept 2. A one year deadline has been set for the talks. These talks will also include The Quartet, a group composed of the United Nations, the United States, the European Union, and Russia.
Today, while Israel is being coerced to begin discussions regarding Middle East peace, Russia’s nuclear engineers were busy aiding the Iranians in the initial startup of Iran’s first nuclear reactor.
On the same day, news reports out of Israel are telling of the discovery of a 1.5 billion barrel oil field. Israeli oil exploration company Givot Olam announced to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) that production test drilling had revealed this lucrative field.
So this week, we’ve seen pressure from The Quartet on Israel for peace. We’ve seen breaking news of Israel’s new oil discovery, and Iran becoming a nuclear reality.
No doubt, the proliferation of nuclear arms worldwide will be the result of a nuclear Iran. The apocalyptic writer’s words have become much more relevant to us this week. John wrote, “15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 The number of the mounted troops was two hundred million. I heard their number. 17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur. 18 A third of mankind was killed by the three
plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury. 20 The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood — idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.” Rev 9:15-21 NIV
Today, unlike any before us, is a day for the Church to rise up and win lost people to God. It’s time to put aside any excuse, any hurt, any bitterness, any disillusionment, any fault, any failure, any problem, any condition, any need that keeps us from living a victorious life in Christ in this hour! Jesus is coming back! And His return is soon. The Bible declares to us in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18: “16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
Friend, the return of Jesus Christ is sure; a reality far more absolute than the outcome of any Middle East peace plan. For we know that “…when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.” 1 Thess 5:3-11 KJV
Remember, Jesus said, “You must be born again.” Be ready for His coming. Until then, win your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, strangers, community, and city to Jesus Christ.
Tell everybody you meet, the news is bold: JESUS IS COMING SOON!
