As the early morning light began distinguish the color and texture of this fog enshrouded morning, the rays of light set Robins to singing. These cheerful recipients sang with abandon, singing only for an audience of One. Creation’s cast quickly assembled with each passing moment to see what glories the Creator would choose to share with each element of His creation. His handiwork was on display. His grace abundant. His light cascading across the community’s landmarks as the fowl bristled with life away from their nest and the buds of flora life were opening to the warmth of invading nectar.
As I journeyed to my hospital destination, creation bowed its head in humble adulation and became fully alive in the splendor of its submission. You see, creation was not offering its own agenda – but rather, it woke with the anticipation of adventuring one more day into the will of God.
On this day, just as creation was afforded time to bask in the presence of her Creator and reflect to Him the brilliance of His own splendor, I was afforded a window of time to sneak away with my son and just hang out.
We didn’t meet to solve a problem. We didn’t meet to do business. We simply met as father and son. In fact, we just snuck off during our lunch hour and shot handguns. The splendor of relationship; a oneness to love. Being together. To be one in fellowship until words are not necessary. My son joined me today on my adventure in the journey, which included shooting pistols.
As I rode home, I thought of our Father’s desire to be with us. I thought of His yearning, His absolute desire to walk with us, ride with us, be with us, do with us – just be there with us, wherever we are. The lexicon of men fails to offer a language that can encapsulate such beauty and magnificent wonder! God bending low to be with us in our adventure!
I challenge you, tomorrow when you awake, think of creation’s song being sung. By the way, it will have been sung for a while before some folks appointed time of rising. Think of the goodness of God that has already been orchestrated for you on this day. God said, “I have thought good thoughts toward you; thoughts of peace and not of evil. I have thought those things to give you an expected end.”
So, join with the Psalmist and say, “This IS the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice (joy again) and be glad in it.”
